YUVENSIUS BIAKAI

Of a sudden not be served as the head of the area, he had a long journey and a struggle for the whole life for everything that can be achieved later. A leader directly or indirectly authorized to determine the fate of the future of others, Yuvensius have done. Now, he had to share a life experience before being able to stand in charge of the area and the authorities are taking every decision.

"I was born 54 years ago, precisely on November 9th, 1959, in the village of Yamas, District Sawa Erma. We all six children, five men and a woman. My two sons, my parents are farmers. At first I did not know why they, especially the mother insisted that her children should learn in school. Finally I understand, they want us to have a better life ". The sentence was rolled neatly, making it easy to observe. Shortly Yuvensius back still, he needs to dig back memories of the days in the past, a past which led him, so he became chief, curator of the museum, has a future, influence, and the sound was very loud to occupy the chair first place in district this division.

One thing that motivates Yuvensius study diligently is fixed visits from both parents, every month two Yuvensius come with paddle boats, carrying groceries and some money, although of education bond Yuvensius obtain study costs by 25 IB --West Irian Money per month. The amount is quite large, because the price of one kilo of rice when it is just one cent. While friends Yuvensius else nobody visited her parents. In each visit parents Yuvensius always the member's advice, that he should study hard so that in time will be able to achieve success and have a better life.

In 1974, after graduating in
Under Normal School, Yuvensius along with four other students went to Jayapura to enrol in the SPG -School Teacher Education Taruna Bakti, at the expense of the Diocese. Yuvensius back living in a dorm that the majority of its inhabitants are indigenous of the hinterland. The distance was so far away and could no longer be reached by rowing boat causes Yuvensius parents can no longer come to visit to provide motivation.

Yuvensius were homesick then fell ill. He filed a request to return to
Under Normal School  in Agats, but the principle does not allow the grounds that he has a good record and are not reasonable return to a lower level of education. With encouragement, Yuven continuing education in   Trained Teachers. He studied diligently and active as secretary of the student council at the school.

On the sidelines of the busyness of learning and extra-curricular activities at school, Yuvensius took time to gardening, planting vegetables and fruits. The crop is sold to teachers in schools, the money saved. While the diocese, Yuven receive an allowance of Rp. 15,000,00 per month. Yuvensius not spending my pocket money received, he set aside a portion for savings. School fees and the hostel has borne all the diocese, so the allowance Yuvensius more than enough.

Three years later, in 1976 Yuvensius successful completion of education at
trained teachers. He returned to Agats and worked at the Museum of Culture and Progress Asmat diocese which was inaugurated on 17 August 1973. The ideals of becoming a doctor has faded altogether, just as memories of childhood that makes her smile when remembering.

1978 Yuvensius for the second time to go to Jayapura at the expense of the Diocese to continue his education at the College of Catholic Theology -STTK. It has been prepared as a cadre officer of the church and take the path of the married priest status. In Jayapura Yuvensius staying at the hostel. Allowance received Rp. 30,000,00 per month is always saved. While tuition and dormitory been entirely borne diocese, Yuvensius can save pocket money.

Yuvensius the opportunity to come back to Sawa Erma, precisely in Kampung Yipawer in 1981 to conduct research in order to construct a bachelor thesis. BA degree Yuvensius achieved immediately after successfully defending thesis with the title Understanding Initiation Asmat as a material consideration in the integration of Christian Initiation. 1982 Yuvensius back to Agats and served as curator of the museum, replacing Abraham Kuruwaip. While the main task as a shepherd to go ahead with the best.

In the same year married with Carola Yuvensius Yacamaot, Asmat woman whom he had known since learned in
Under normal school. Both swear allegiance to live together in difficult and happy, just when death will separate. With savings began to be collected from the study at trained teachers. Yuvensius build a big house located on the border between Kampung Syuru and Bis Agats. In the house Yuven and Carola trying to build better lives and realize their hopes. After the marriage, was born the first son named John. Two years later, on December 7th, 1984 following a second child, and named Silvester Sivoro.

After the birth of her children, Yuvensius remain employed as a shepherd and a museum curator. Yuvensius even got a chance to cooperate with the
Department of Education and Culture  and COMPASS to hold an exhibition in Jakarta. He brought dancers, drummers drums, and a number of Asmat carvings. Interest holding the exhibition is to inspire the authorities to be more concerned about the Asmat people whose living conditions at that time of serious concern.

Positive impact held the exhibition is the idea to establish
Foundations of Progress and Development Asmat     in Jakarta was also directly affect the lives inland. This can be evidenced by the increasing price of timber from Rp. 600,00 to Rp 12,000,00 per stem. With the rising prices, the financial condition of the family of the wood sellers become better.

In 1986, Yuvensius travelled to Germany for three months followed by a trip to the Netherlands for three months anyway. From that trip Yuvensius got very deep understanding of the behaviour of outsiders in  Asmat culture. Behaviour that raises awareness for Yuvensius, that the Asmat culture turned out to be very much appreciated. This realization became a powerful motivation for Yuvensius to maintain that museum objects Asmat craft containing the value of art, religion, and history can be groomed properly, so it can be transmitted to children as a valuable lesson.

On September 24, 1986, Yuvensius third child was born, the baby was given the name Ursula Ryth Ciko. The house is large it becomes crowded by children. Meanwhile, Yuvensius still trying to develop a culture of the Asmat. The idea came up to establish
Foundations of Progress and Development Asmat during the exhibition held in Jakarta soon realized sponsored by Max Wayo, a man who has a great interest in the culture of the Asmat. Kharisuhud, who was then serving as deputy chairman of the   Parley People's Assembly, acting as leader. With the foundation is expected Asmat children's education can be considered.

1987, Yuven colleagues had also founded
Senior High School   Senior High School  Foundation Work of Darma, but they have difficulty in managing the school. After pleading Kharisuhud consideration, he accepted the suggestion that the school management was handed over to   Foundations of Progress and Development Asmat. In this year also Yuvensius nominated as the representatives in the House of Merauke. However, because of life's calling as a pastor at the same time curator of the museum, so he resigned from the nomination. He survived with the original work in Agats.

On September 14th, 1988, the fourth child Yuvensius, Tadius Osakat born. A year later
Senior High School  Foundation Work of Dharma   officially submitted to  Foundations of Progress and Development Asmat  to be managed and eventually become a secondary school of foundations of Progress and Development Asmat. Under the supervision of  Foundations of Progress and Development AsmatSenior High School is growing well and became the only secondary school in the Asmat region. Meanwhile, Yuvensius duty as shepherd continues. In 1990, he was ordained and kept active duty at the Catholic church Kampung Syuru the whole congregation is the Asmat people.

Yuvensius fifth child, Gisila Biakai born on June 15th, 1992. The sixth child Agusta Banep three years later, on June 4th, 1995. While the children are seven Markus Biakai born on September 9th, 1996. The eighth child was born two years later Janet and son the latter is Merlin. Finally settling down in a big house together with his wife and nine children to look after.

Every day Yuvensius stints as a shepherd. On Sunday Yuvensius will stand in the pulpit to give a sermon to the congregation Kampung Syuru. On other days Yuvensius will visit homes to conduct coaching and various other social activity. Among the leisure time, attendance at the museum is the principal, he must take care of art objects, reading the letters department at once cast a reply. Yuvensius also taught art at junior YPPGI  --
Indonesian Church Schooling Education Foundation three days a week. In one day he taught for two hours the lesson, so that within a week Yuvensius should take six hours to teach. In the weeks when the Cultural Festival took place in around October, Yuvensius became very busy. He had to intervene directly in a variety of activities, ranging from carving results will be included in the auction, welcoming guests until the auction is completed.

Speaking about the presence of immigrants in the Asmat region, Yuvensius argued that the presence of immigrants in principle a positive impact. Many of the changes that led to the original people's lives become more complex since the influx of missionaries in the 1950s, officials Indonesia since 1963, then the employer until the 1970s. Schools established so that the children get a chance to get an education. Health centres are built to cope with the disease. Similarly, the presence of traders which allows residents to have money and various industrial goods imported from outside the region. Asmat people began going to go catch fish and sell them to consumers, so that they receive compensation in the form of money, although to this day has not been able to use it well. Results obtained from fish sales today will be discharged today anyway. As for the negative impact that obviously shows up is the inclusion of liquor in public life bit by bit eventually become addictive. Liquors cause hangovers, every time people could walk down the street to make a fuss. Time was still wise to spin and still like a wagon wheel, slowly but surely, over a decade later pieces of stories in the past expressed as a record of who can no longer compose. Is there at the beginning tells Yuvensius never thought the journey would take him into the number one spot for the first two periods in the district this division? When the economic crisis ensnare people's lives, then everyone must fight bravely to preserve the entire life hoping a change. Is not welfare is a matter that must be fought? But how long time else should wait to get a chance Asmat people change?

Finally, reforms to answer any pressing issues of community life, the local elections are done by the local Parliament without interference from the central government. The opportunity to perform for any leader in a wide-open area for any potential son. Under Law No. 26 Year 2002Asmat established as a division of the District Parent district of Merauke. As a division of the district who have been waiting for two decades, Asmat rejoice and improve itself. On 12 April 2003, Drs. Wiro Watken Yosef, the acting regent sworn in Governor Yap Asmat Salossa in Jayapura.

Wiro Watken Yosef welcomed the Asmat in a state department is in accordance with the situation cities Agats who recently left the economic crisis and hope ahead of the Special Autonomy. Wiro Yosef Watken charge of organizing the government, the legislative elections in 2004 until his resignation as regent candidate Asmat paired with Kasim SP. Appolo Safanfo teamed with Haji Mato, Yuven Biakai paired with Frederik Batti Sorring. Procession elections are long and full of surprises as well as the support of the various parties to bring your spouse and Frederik Biakai Yuvensius A. Batti Sorring win elections later inaugurated on September 8th, 2005 in Field Yos Sudarso, Agats.

A very great changes taking place in the lives of Yuvensius, he now no longer just as a shepherd or a museum curator or a person who wants to be close to ethnic members. He is the first top regent Asmat people's choice. The whole rhythm of life changed, Yuvensius is directly responsible for directing each
office work unit  in order to draw up programs in the framework of the vision-mission, 'Building on top Pilar Asmat Asmat culture ", Yuvensius must keep a campaign promise. He has a vice-regent, secretary of the region along with all his staff and technical institutes  office work unit   responsible for the realization of the program in order to improve the welfare of society as an essential purpose the division of this district. Five years of waiting for the heavy work similarly with the next five-year period. One thing you have to do a regent is working hard, preparing a strategic program, setting the bureaucratic, reap the rewards once to bear the risk of any decision.

Ja asamanam apcamar - walking on balance, a deeply held philosophy in order to build on a pillar Asmat Asmat culture. Each tribe has a different culture from each other, ethnic specification becomes the identity that distinguishes between us and them. As tribes famed sculpture, Asmat have a special authenticity and identity. There is also the position and geographical conditions are not favourable for the development of physical infrastructure --muddy marshland with high tides during the year, the villages scattered along the river to the boat as a means of transportation is a very big challenge to be resolved. Nothing can be done unless a local chief kept going, monitor the realization of the program, is accountable to the Parliament plenary session and then follow all the suggestions for improving the program in the future.

While tenure Yuvensius A. Biakai and Julius Patandianan continue to run, the infrastructure in the capital area Agats  change from wooden bridge iron into the composite and the solid cast concrete and comprehensive. Bis statue towering monument right in the heart as a symbol of the City of Culture Asmat. Construction of the said monument is not separated from the Regent Asmat motto in running the government, namely, "Building on top Pilar Asmat Asmat culture. In a statement Yuvensius asserted, "Before the inauguration of an elected regent, the district is headed by Caretaker, Wiro Yosef Watken. In 2005, I was sworn in as the first Regent to serve five years, in 2010 I was appointed for a second term and returned to duty in the next five years. Almost ten years have passed, from the year 2005, I was sworn in as Regent Asmat. I remember when Asmat would blossom into a new district, there is a philosophy, developing on a pillar Asmat Asmat culture. This philosophy is the Asmat language translation into Indonesian, which has a meaning, build Asmat with Ja Asamanam Apcamar which means Build Asmat with Full Balance. In the balance of the said there are three pillars to the Asmat culture --where all human relationships, Asmat relationship with nature, and the relationship with the ancestral spirits.

There is no actual balance principle is based on the dignity of human life, the dignity. When a person has been determined to establish themselves, then first he must respect ourselves, then respect others. Arrogance will cause offence, because people take other people's low, do not respect each other. On the basis of strong self-esteem, the ability to appreciate oneself as the basis for respect for others, then  can come build Asmat, shoulder to shoulder as brothers in supporting the realization of the development program. No one figure higher and no lower, there is respect for each other, regardless of their ethnicity, race or class. Thus, it will create a cosy atmosphere and peace among others.

On the basis of the balance of the Asmat also organizes ritual traditional feast with wisdom. Occurred in the traditional party of social cohesion, harmony between man and man, by nature and by the spirit of the ancestors. The atmosphere created in the traditional party ritual is peace, there is no enmity or sectarian bloodshed. In philosophy in Asamanam Apcamar Ja, there is always a peaceful solution of all disputes and conflicts, not to go in the merciless revenge ".

Establishment of One Roof School or School of seed, the riel embodiment of the motto, Build Asmat above Pilar, who Asmat culture also means that build self-esteem as a starting point to empower Asmat  forward. In the School of One Roof at the same time there are three levels of education, elementary, middle, and high schools that teach the local content of Asmat cultural values. From an early age, all students have learned to understand sculpture Asmat, beating drums and performed dances. While teaching English and computer may also be given at an early age, so that elementary school students are expected to master the computer at once fluent in English.

According to saving Yuvensius A. Biakai, that Pancasila Moral Education had a positive impact in building a life together. Now, for one reason or another are excluded education. Negative consequences that arises then is the deterioration of living together. School One Roof with Asmat culture education is one solution to replace Pancasila Moral Education. The essence of the educational process in principle is to build morale as the underlying foundation of motion of human behaviour. With the establishment of Superior Schools are expected all students can be a straight Asmat with high morality, is a mature, independent, and do not lose the identity anywhere on the go. Later, seeded School alumni also expected to potentially be a big man who can build Asmat.
