TENGGARONG, KUTAI KARTANEGARA --1600 Years History

The journey from Sepinggan Airport, Balikpaan toward Tenggarong within about four hours of driving a four-wheel vehicles on slippery roads paved. At the edge of the highway is two settlements then vast forests stretching limitless horizons. Minibus be driving in high speed without jams or honking hampered atmosphere deafening. In the middle of the road we can momentarily stopped for dinner at Restaurant Soto Banjar before traveling back passed. Public toilets are available around the shop or in the mosque, used to give a little in return for rupiah. This time I am on my way bencmarking the Leadership Education and Training New Trends III Force One. Tenggarong selected as the destination with consideration as the oldest historical sites with a very high income areas, so as to raise the welfare of the people.

It was dark when we arrived at the city limits, Mahakam River water looked dark as ink solution with no light except the light from barges or boats and houses that stood on the river bank. We have been tired when resting in a three star hotel after a day's journey from Makassar, a hot shower and then sleep on the couch into the most comfortable rest. Tomorrow we start the first day of activity Regents meeting with officials, a visit to the Office of Population and Civil Registration as well as other Office for different groups then pay a visit to the Museum Mulawarman. Hardly a decent word spoken except, "Amazed!". Eventually I ended up in a position that is known as the history since the fourth century, 1600 years ago.

The geographical position Tenggarong City is located at 116 ° 47 '- 117 ° 04' east longitude and 0 ° 21 '- 0 ° 34' South Latitude. The highest point of the center is located about 500 meters above sea level, the soil tends to as swamp land in the plains near the banks of the river and hilly. The average air temperature of 30 ° C, with an annual rainfall average of 1500 to 2000 mm per year. Tenggarong is a district town once the capital of Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan. Tenggarong region is divided into 13 sub-district has a total area of 398.10 km2, a population of over 100 thousand inhabitants.
Tenggarong is the capital of the Sultanate of Kutai ing Martadipura. The city was founded on September 28, 1782 by Raja Kutai 15th, Aji Muhammad Muslihuddin, which is also known by the name Aji Imbut. The city was originally named Edge Pandan when Aji Imbut moved the capital of the kingdom of Pemarangan. By Sultan Kutai, Pandan Tepian name was later changed to White Ladder which means the house of the king. But in its development, White Ladder is more popularly known as "Tenggarong" until today.
According to legend Dayak community Benuaq of group Ningkah Olo, Tenggarong name according Benuaq language is "Tengkarukng" comes from the word tengkaq and bengkarukng, tengkaq means rising or setting foot into a higher place, just as the climbing stairs, bengkarukng is a plant roots. According to the Benuaq community when a group of people Benuaq -which is expected to be a descendant Ningkah Olo heading inland along the Mahakam River they stopped at a place alongside the banks of the Mahakam, by climbing the river bank through the roots bengkarukng. Hereinafter referred Tengkarukng bengkarukng roots, because the accent Malay "sprain". Tenggarukng hereinafter referred to Tengkarong, eventually naming Tengkarong turned into Tenggarong. The changes are due to language Benuaq many have a difficult consonant ordinary speakers of Malay / Indonesian.

Name Kukar bring memories back to the past, is currently studying in school. Kutai is the site of the oldest kingdom in the archipelago with the first king Kudungga. Sources history as Yupa, inscriptions in the sacrifice that comes from the 4th century. There are seven yupa is the main source for the experts in interpreting the history of the Kingdom of Kutai. Yupa is a stone monument as a memorial to the generosity of the king Mulawarman Brahman. In Hinduism cows are not slaughtered as a sacrifice made Muslims. From one yupa known, that the king who ruled the kingdom of Kutai when it is Mulawarman. His name is recorded in yupa for his philanthropy menyedekahkan 20,000 cows to the Brahmins. In the Indonesian National History Book II: Ancient Times written by Marwati Djoened Poesponegoro and Nugroho Notosusanto published by Balai Pustaka page 36, transliteration inscription above are as follows:

"Śrīmatah Sri-narendrasya; kuṇḍuṅgasya mahātmanaḥ; Putro śvavarmmo vikhyātah; vaṅśakarttā yathāṅśumān; tasya son mahātmānaḥ; Traya Trayas ivāgnayaḥ; teṣān trayāṇām pravaraḥ; Tapo-bala-damānvitaḥ; Sri mūlavarmmā rājendro; yaṣṭvā bahusuvarṇnakam; tasya yajñasya Yupo 'yam; dvijendrais samprakalpitaḥ. "

This means:
"Emperor Kundungga, a very noble, has a son of the renowned Aśwawarmman the name, which like Angśuman --dewa Matahari-- foster family is very precious. The Aśwawarmman has three sons, like a fire, who sacred. Leading off the third son is the Mūlawarmman, civilized king good, strong, and powerful. The Mūlawarmman has held that name festivity gold-very-much. For -festivity warning that this stone monument was set up by the Brahmins. "

Now, after Kutai history written over 1600 years, Tenggarong the center of government were amazing. Lembuswana statue stands in the front yard Mulawarman Museum and in every corner of the city. Lembuswana characterized as bull-headed lion, wearing the crown – symbol of might  a king who is considered the ruler and the crown is considered a sign of royal power as a god, gods --trunked elephant god Ganesha as intelligence, winged garuda, and scaly fish. Lembusawana is an icon of tenggarong symbolizes the mighty and intelligent leadership.

Leaders were able to collaborate on the oldest history, natural resources, natural resources and innovation to achieve the original income of 300 Trillion every year of coal and petroleum. Of the total revenue referred Kutai regional government get six Trillion to fund the Department of Work Unit in the framework of development. Then the Civil Service, to continue living in affluence with benefits and operating costs are high. While the office building stands as five-star hotel, located in an office environment Regent Tenggarong. Each department has a program of work aimed at improving the welfare of society.

In front of the office of Regent Tenggarong is the Mahakam River continues flowing towards the estuary. Above the water level of the river barges never stop loading coal toward a predetermined place, so that the results of this nature would be a source of local revenue. Overpass, located not far from the regent's office while still in the repair process. Passing barge in mobilizing coal gives shocks to the bridge foundations in a way that the bridge collapsed years ago. The atmosphere of the highway free of traffic jams, every motor vehicle both four-wheel and two wheels can be passed quickly without a hitch. Lush trees on two side of the road, the restaurant serves a delicious menu for lunch, hot rice, grilled chicken, grilled fish, sauce, fresh vegetables, fresh vegetables and beverages.

On the left stands Mulawarman Museum Art Market, all merchants offering a variety of handicrafts with decorative beads and precious stones of different colors. Hand bags, tissue boxes, miscellaneous --kalung jewelry, bracelets, rings, giwang-- fabrics and a variety of souvenirs offered in a decent price. Various colors agate displayed behind the storefront, inviting interest, especially for fans. In addition to the Museum Mulawarman there are still some memorable place to visit, is the Museum of Wooden Tuah Himba, Kumala Island, Planetarium Universe Tenggarong, Reservoir Flag Sukarame and Erau held each September related to the anniversary of Tenggarong, the capital of Kutai regency. Is the Cultural Festival which starts from the history of the king's coronation which have now been included in the calendar of events of national tourism, is no longer associated with art and culture palace Kukar but rather varies with different appearances diverse arts and cultural as well as living and growing throughout the district of Kutai mammal.

There are still many facets of life in the aquatic mammal that can be visited later followed up, but the visit is always limited in time. When leaving the city with a walk along the Mahakam River, remains one wanting to go back to the same place at different times to visit specific places. Including the upper reaches of the Mahakam River where traditional societies settled with the customs and culture specific.

T H I E F

One carelessness actually I have done with regard, that settled around the neighbourhood is safe. There was never the slightest I think there will be a direct result of physical attacks threatening. That day, with comfortable I enjoyed the solitude, the first child has started unity semesters of lectures, the second child while on holiday staying with her sister. I thought I could enjoy the day-to-day deserted peacefully without the hassle of setting up eating more often protested, because it is not tasty, face to face masque, as late buying a cake as a provision to the school and the protests, because always there is something wrong in the home.
That night I went to sleep wrapped in a warm beautiful dream, but the dream was awake when suddenly there was a knock at the door of the room and pulled the door handle several times. This time I was not dreaming, cats certainly can not knock on the door. So, who? I open the door sleepily check the situation in the TV room and dining room, silent. However, the cold air blowing sign front and back doors wide open. I went back into the room locked the door. An instant later the sound of heavy footsteps from the kitchen, the move was hasty, fast and heavy as a pair of foot-coated steel plate. I shivered, realizing there are thieves entered at around 02:30 in the morning shortly after the sound of white ship stom.
I know the greatest danger of thieves who caught the host, he could commit the crime more than the intention of stealing. I've come this far until the children grow up, I do not want this achievement ended tragically. I hastily call the police, the phone does not answer, I send an SMS with the word chaos. A moment later the phone rang, whispering I said, "The thief entered the house, please. Thieves entered the house, please .... ".
Came the reply, "Yes .... Yes .... I will come soon".
I'm still calling some numbers distractedly for help. Useless screaming distance of the neighbouring house on the side, rear, and the front is still a couple of meters, the worst possible all asleep, would not hear the screams. While the sound of footsteps outside the room is getting tense, move it toward the middle of the room and unlocked the front, with the reckless sound of the drawer, is opened and closed and then move it to the back of the house. So many times, my heart was racing, I did not dare to take rash action, I had to face this stressful situation. Briefcase with securities and cash office operations that have not had time to pay, I throw down under. I will not be able to bear the loss of a number of one-year salary.
The scariest moment finally arrives, is when the thief began to unload the room door made of plywood, I keep your mouth shut, although the body temperature gets colder as if stuck in the refrigerator. Moments later appear bald head sticking out of the door leaf is broken with the right face toward the ground. He was an old man wearing a T-Shirt light brown with dark brown arm, I noticed it right characteristics. Before the stranger could go further, vigorously spray Baygon on his eye. The thief looked surprised as if stung by the flow of electricity, without screaming or saying a word he sprinted toward the living room, leaving the house in haste. On the floor of my room still sat wrapped in cloth, shivering. Perhaps between me and the thief experienced the same fears. One thing that suddenly left in your mind is, hollow. I lost all the memories and hope that once neatly arranged.
I still have chills a few minutes to two policemen came with a revolver in hand. Deftly, I unlocked the door to the room, accept the presence of two members of the security. We checked around the house, the carpet in front of the bedroom door had dishevelled. Turnstile, living room, back door, and the door to a wide-open landfills. There are no items were brought thieves, except the living room door lock and motor lock. "How did the thieves get into the house?" We wondered.
When the morning break, a police officer came back with a fingerprint equipment. The entire door handle inspected, but no fingerprints are left behind. I slumped in the chair front porch, loss of common sense. When one of the policemen noticed the window, he found a wire ram in disrepair, man's arm can be stretched into to play a key attached to the handle of the door. The gate for six years was never my key, because I feel safe living environment, never expected to be visited by an uninvited guest at dawn.
I'm still asking members of the police while at home until I arrived back from the village to call relatives dating. Loneliness turns scary. Repairman came a few hours later to repair the damage, making an emergency door in every room, so I could take security measures when threat tina arrives. I am still looking for the characteristics of people who've ducked in the door of the room were broken, but until the next three weeks, the thief never could I have encountered.
One morning when an employee of the Department of Public Works is repairing a damaged bridge, in front of the house, I came to join, ask the rest of the board, when the board anticipation pull out bridge while officers late. When I turned immediately locked eyes with it, a man approaching 50 years with a broken left eye. He looked as if he knew me, at first glance, looked at the sorry sight. I was silent, should I report back to the police? A friend at work suggested not need to report, in time the past three weeks. The next few days I still bump into the same people, the attitude seemed to show remorse. He also repeatedly passing through in front of the house, apparently he lived not far from the house, about 100 meters to the right and then entering the lane, he lived in semi-permanent houses, originating from distant villages. One time the thief was even recorded in the identity card office, I Copies of the cards to be stored. During concerned not doing anything, I was silent, but when she dared to overreact, I will take action as I've ever done.
Until a few months I through the day without hope, everything worry and become discouraged. Fear and fresh-made me understand, that everybody will never be in a situation that is completely safe from physical attacks or defamation dropping. Wary required on every second and pull out, I became more understanding, that safety is the most valuable thing.

DAUB SKY

time has soared
roofs
dhuha same exalted
when the bamboo stems, wailing
design hit by wind
who passed away on disappeared
rain ceased be silenced
dusk
Are not happy and sorrow
the only difference is most colours
who daub black sky
back into the light
and herding lunch on the verge of drowning
evening

love and hate just a piece of words
in the sense of relative
whatever the meaning of regret, except cried
groaned in efflux
date
the music was silent
perennial ocean merges with legs
sky
perpetuate destination
humans only trail
left behind on the sand
tongue wave
the blaring
coastal pounce

UNCLE HO

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, 2 September 2006
Ten years ago I attended a conference of HIV / AIDS, Gender, and Leadership in Hanoi, Vietnam. One day was a lecturer unable to attend, I joined two colleagues from Indonesia and Laos to visit historical places in Honai, Ho Ci Minh Moseleum which is located not far from Army Hotel, where we stayed while. The streets of Hanoi City filled two-wheeled motor vehicle in motion as if the flow of ocean waves with the sound of the horn that fulfills the crowd. We took a taxi, a small car that drove over the asphalt slippery roads, the riders are quite friendly.Shortly after leaving the Army Hotel we reached the destination, the beginning we walked around in the neighborhood of Ho Chi Minh Museum, the Presidential Palace and the yellow-walled two-story houses on stilts that are too simple as a presidential residence. In the surrounding neighborhood is a lake and park with trees that shade. Finally we headed to the crowded center coincides with the anniversary of independence. The same date as the day of mourning when the President passed away, 2nd September 1969 at the age of 79 years. Ho Chi Minh was born on May 19th, 1890 from married couples Nguyen Sinh Sac and Hoang Thi Loan. The new state ceremony finished, the crowd is not over, we passed several examinations, leaving the bag and the camera then joined the long line to the Ho Chi Minh Moseleum, majestic granite building which was heavily guarded for 24 hours. At first the sun seared, more and more dim, as we stood on the applicability to the first stair building "sacred" it. At first they heard a human voice say, but the longer the speech was growing quietly until it stopped altogether, which left the sound of feet up the stairs without a word. Cold air ambushed when they first step on the ladder in the building of granite, the longer the air gets cold, narrow corridor without daylight, fluorescent lights except the dim strengthen mellow atmosphere. I forget the atmosphere in the outdoors, sucked into silence long lines of pilgrims, waiting for the seconds determines to stare at the figure lying peacefully in the eternal rest forever.Memorable moment finally arrived, on a rectangular niches with surrounding corridor. The pilgrims converge in a long line silently, staring at one point, faint sound of sobbing women to participate sayapun eyes glazed. The entire pairs of eyes glued to the middle of the room, a prayer in the deepest recesses of the heart. Inside the glass casket looked a body lying in the bed as if he were dreaming a long, dark color safari shirt, covered up to the waist in a similar color boundaries. Yellow glowing lights shining on the figure, the face of the President looked calm, without fear or anxiety. Ho Chi Minh City is not just a fighter who later became the first president sworn in Vietnam, he is uncle to all the people of Vietnam. Colleagues of Vietnam always said, "He is my uncle," with compassion and pride. All currencies Vietnam Dong displays the face of the uncle, in every room of protocol statue or picture of Uncle Ho always appear as pride. Along the way was a picture of the President with a boy in uniform Praja Muda Karana, helping wearing a neck tie.Uncle Ho beat Lyndon Johnson's war strategy repel enemy soldiers of the homeland, in the guerrilla attack corrugated forwarded all fighters. His remarks are always remembered are:

"You can kill ten of our men for every one we kill of yours. But even at those odds, you will lose and we will win. It was patriotism, not Communism, that inspired me. Remember, the storm is a good opportunity for the pine and the cypress to show Reviews their strength and their stability ... "Eleven years after the enemy soldiers disappeared, the people of Vietnam entered the period subsidies, food rations and basic necessities in limited quantities, without exception. As a country that not long ago in spite of the occupation, the State's ability to produce basic necessities in order to very limited public welfare. Community life very simple, but the people of Vietnam is a tenacious worker, tough, and love for the State. Twenty-one years later, Vietnam has become a developing nation to give the possibility to every citizen to create establish themselves. History continues to roll on the ground, changes continue to occur. But there is one figure that is still remembered by all levels of the Vietnamese people, Uncle Ho. The uncle's body was preserved, buried in a place of honor, a place of pilgrimage at once a monument to always remember sekalus emulate the struggle to free Vietnam from military occupation, proving itself as a sovereign and independent state after war-torn.Moseleum past me down the steps with an impression that will never be erased, even after ten years of pilgrimage was passed. One country really need a leader who dared, fair, and wise, able to sacrifice for freedom and ideals throughout the nation. I have met the obsession, the first country to be I visited was Vietnam. Strands of Ho Chi Minh photo I save for my take home back to Indonesia, for me an unidentified visitor figure of the Uncle remains a paragon.
